Reisetomate, salad, 15 seeds
Red and somewhere between a salad and a bunch of fused cherry tomatoes. But it's just weird and probably the most unique looking tomato of them all. Thick skin, many seeds and an amazing sharp flavour. The parts of the tomato can be pulled apart sort of like citrus fruits. Hence the name - traveler's tomato or reisetomate. To be eaten piece by piece on a travel.
Definitely an heirloom, a rare one at that. But who cultivated it is not so clear. It may have been the Dutch, the Germans or the Austrians. A good version is that it's a German heirloom that originated from Guatemala or Peru.
